Skillman Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas H II REGIONS GALAXIES: DWARF GALAXIES: EVOLUTION GALAXIES: IRREGULAR GALAXIES: ABUNDANCES Contributions by the Peimberts have been fundamental in establishing ideas concerning both the propertiesand the evolution of dwarf galaxies. I will briey review these ideas within the context of a retrospective of themilestone paper: \Chemical Composition and Evolution of Irregular and Blue Compact Galaxies" by Lequeux,Peimbert, Rayo, Serrano, & Torres-Peimbert, 1979, A&A, 80, 155. This paper added pioneering spectroscopicobservations of H II regions in 6 dwarf galaxies and provided much of the basis of our modern view of dwarfgalaxies. Most of the conclusions and inferences remain true today, over two decades since they were written. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57112079 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.12
