Viegas Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas SHOCK WAVES H II REGIONS GALAXIES: ACTIVE GALAXIES: INDIVIDUAL (I ZW 18) It is well-known that photoionization is the major mechanism powering nebulae emission-lines. For about 30years, numerical simulations using photoionization codes have been employed to analyze H II regions, planetarynebulae and active galactic nuclei. Although these models can reproduce most of the observed features, someremain unexplained. Two possible causes for the discrepancies between observations and model predictions arediscussed in this paper: (a) the models are not realistic enough; (b) an additional energy source is needed. Thediscussion here is mainly based on the results of photoionization models for the NW knot of I Zw 18. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57112083 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.12
