contents N-Body Simulations of Small Galaxy Groups (Parte A) H. Aceves H. Velázquez Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas METHODS: NUMERICAL GALAXIES: INTERACTIONS GALAXIES: KINEMATICS AND DYNAMICS A series of N-body simulations aimed at studying the dynamics of smallgroups of galaxies is presented. In particular, our results are compared with thedynamical properties of Hickson`s compact groups (HCG). `Maximum expansion`and virial initial conditions are tested, and no primordial common dark halo is considered. The properties of small galaxy groups are very well reproduced, and thoseof Hickson`s groups are well reproduced for the most advanced stage of collapsinggroups. We find no overmerging problem in our simulations. An important fractionof groups ( 40%) initially in virial equilibrium can last for 10 Gyr withoutcomplete merging. These results provide an alternative solution to the overmergingexpected in Hickson`s compact groups. Also, the mass-to-light ratio of HCG areprobably similar to those found in clusters, suggesting that both kinds of systemshave about the same fraction of barionic to total mass. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57138209 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Num.2 Vol.38
