contents Dwarf and Normal Spiral Galaxies: are they Self-Similar? Ana María Hidalgo Gámez Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas GALAXIES: SPIRALS GALAXIES: STELLAR CONTENT INTERSTELLAR MEDIUM: H II REGIONS GENERAL The investigation presented here was focused on clarifying the existence ofdwarf spiral galaxies as a separate group from classical spirals. First, a list of spiralgalaxies with small sizes was obtained. Information on colors, luminosities, morphologiesand chemical content was searched for in the literature for these galaxies.Using this information, it can be concluded that dwarf spirals are not likely to bethe tail of the distribution of classical galaxies. On the contrary, significant differencesin some of the most important properties of spiral galaxies, such as themetallicity gradient and the bar frecuency, were found. In any case, further andmore accurate observations are needed for a definitive answer. 2004 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57140105 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Num.1 Vol.40
