  • Quantitative Stellar Spectral Classification. III. Spectral Resolution J. García M. J. Stock N. Sánchez J. Stock Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas CLASSIFICATION STARS: FUNDAMENTAL PARAMETERS The method developed by Stock & Stock (1999) to derive absolute magnitudesand intrinsic colors is applied to simulated low-resolution spectra. The simulationis made by convolving real spectra with a Gaussian function, with (the full widthat half maximum) related to the final spectral resolution. The accuracy with whichthe stellar parameters are determined indicates that the method may be applied totypical objective-prism spectra. We show that changes in the spectral resolutiondo not significantly affect the stellar parameters obtained with this method forearly-type stars, whereas for later-type stars an improved approach is necessary. 2005 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57141104 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Num.1 Vol.41
