  • Low redshift bal qsos in the eigenvector 1 context C. Bongardo V. Braito M. Calvani R. Zamanov J. W. Sulentic D. Dultzin-Hacyan P. Marziani Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas GALAXIES: ACTIVE QUASARS: EMISSION LINES QUASARS: ABSORPTION LINES We attempt to characterize the geometry of Broad Absorption Line (BAL)QSOs by studying a low redshift sample of 12 sources. We find that the majorityof these sources are Population A quasars as defined in Sulentic et al. (2000a,broad H B FWHM 4000 km s_1). A possible correlation between terminal velocityand absolute V magnitude suggests that the bolometric luminosity to black holemass ratio Lbol=MBH is a governing factor with classical BAL sources showingthe highest values. Civ 1549 emission in classical BAL sources shows a profileblueshift that supports a disk wind/outflow scenario with a half opening angle of< 50. Observation of “secondary” mini-BAL features in the Civ 1549 emissionprofile motivates us to model BALs with an additional component that may beinvolved with the BLR outflow and coaxial with the accretion disk. 2006 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57142104 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Num.1 Vol.42
