| contents | Middle Miocene to Pliocene sedimentary basin analysis of vertical movements in Hokkaido, Japan Tsumoru Sagayama Ciencias de la Tierra Neogene Hokkaido basin analysis vertical movement Neogene Tertiary sequences are widely represented in the Japanese Islands. Sediments ofNeogene Tertiary are particularly well represented in Hokkaido, the northernmost part of JapaneseIslands. Detailed Neogene Tertiary stratigraphy provides regional context for correlation withTertiary in the Honshu, the main land of Japan, and the Sakhalin and Kamtschatka regions ofRussia. Paleo-sea level was reconstructed, based on four sedimentary facies, for 27 of 31 basinsstudied. Unconformities indicate exposure of land surface during regression, whereas the facies ofconglomerate, sandstone, siltstone, and mudstone represent sedimentation under changing sea levelsduring transgression. 31 basins studied represent nine types of vertical movements. Subsidence ratesfor the late Miocene, early early Pliocene and late early Pliocene show a tendency to become fasteras geologic ages become younger. 2002 artículo científico 1026-8774 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57219308 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=572 Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (México) Num.3 Vol.19 |
