Chichagova Ciencias de la Tierra paleosols southern Russia ecological crisis interaction of nature and society Several dark-colored buried paleosols are studied in balkas (valley) in the south of Russia (KalmykiaRepublic). The paleosols differ from modern soils by chemical and physical properties that indicatedifferences in the character of soil-forming processes in the past and in the present. The paleosols areburied under colluvial and eolian deposits, whose intensive accumulation followed the late Holoceneclimatic optimum (about 1,000 years ago). We hypothesize burial was caused by landscape erosionassociated with social developments within this territory. One reason for simultaneous burial of soilswithin the large study area probably was catastrophic landscape erosion caused by immense flocks ofsheep kept by tribes that occupied the territory of the collapsed Khazar state. 2004 artículo científico 1026-8774 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57221106 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=572 Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (México) Num.1 Vol.21
