contents Lamnoid vertebrae from the Agua Nueva Formation (Upper Cretaceous: Lower Turonian), northeastern Mexico Kenshu Shimada Gerardo González Barba Alberto Blanco Piñon Ciencias de la Tierra shark Mexico Turonian lamniform Vallecillo A partial vertebral series of a lamniform shark (Chondrichthyes: Elasmobranchii) occurred inthe “Vallecillo fish Member” of the Agua Nueva Formation (Upper Cretaceous: Lower Turonian) atVallecillo, Mexico. Its taxonomic assignment below the ordinal level is tenuous, but the vertebrae closelyresemble those of cretoxyrhinid sharks. This report represents the first documentation of a Cretaceouslamniform shark in northeastern Mexico. The shark could have measured slightly over 3 m in total bodylength. Because the vertebrae are articulated and are three-dimensionally preserved, they are thought tobe deposited rather quickly on a soft oceanfloor after decomposition of most of the shark carcass. 2005 artículo científico 1026-8774 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57222102 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=572 Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (México) Num.1 Vol.22
