- A new genus and species of crab from the bryozoan bioherms of the Eocene Santee Limestone; South Carolina, USA Gale A. Bishop Billy T. Palmer Ciencias de la Tierra Eocene bioherm Crustacea South Carolina Santee Formation The fossil crab Propinnotheroides orangeburgensis is described from the Eocene Santee Limestonein Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The specimens, two nearly complete carapaces preserved inlithifi ed coquina, add signifi cant detail to our knowledge of the Eocene decapod faunas inhabiting theoff-shore bryozoan bioherms on the southeastern coast of North America. The coquinoid limestone faciesof the Santee Limestone and Ocala and Castle Hayne Limestone represent shallow offshore biohermsand patch reefs deposited on the upper shelf of the ancient continental shelf. The bryozoan biohermsand patch reefs provided a nutrient-rich environment in which fostered the development of a distinctiveEocene reef fauna, including a diverse decapod fauna. 2006 artículo científico 1026-8774 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57223308 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=572 Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (México) Num.3 Vol.23
