  • Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) foraminiferal assemblage from the inoceramid beds, Ocozocoautla Formation, central Chiapas, SE Mexico Lourdes Omaña Ciencias de la Tierra Mexico Chiapas Maastrichtian Ocozocoautla Formation foraminiferal assemblage Foraminifera from samples collected in the lower part of the Ocozocoautla Formation were studied. This sequence crops out north-west of Tuxtla Gutiérrez in central part of Chiapas state in south-easternMexico. The lower part of the unit consists mostly of argillaceous and marly sandstone with inoceramids. This horizon yields a poorly preserved but biostratigraphically useful foraminiferal assemblage. The upper part of the Gansserina gansseri zone is defi ned on the basis of the planktic foraminiferalassociation. An early Maastrichtian age has been assigned, rather than late Campanian-Maastrichtianas previously determined in the literature. The environment was interpreted as outer shelf-upper slope with Tethyan affi nities, on the basis ofthe benthic and planktic foraminiferal association. 2006 artículo científico 1026-8774 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57230202 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=572 Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (México) Num.2 Vol.23
