contents Anormalidades en el aparato reproductor de una hembra de Onthophagus hirculus Mannh. (Coleoptera Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) Imelda Martínez Patricia González Enrique Morelli Biología ovaries oviducts Scarabaeinae Recent observations of a female of the species Onthophagus hirculus revealed 2 ovaries, with oneovariole for each, and two lateral oviducts. This structural arrangement is highly uncommon in theScarabaeinae subfamily, a group in which the females present only a left ovary with one ovariole. These newanatomical observations and those of another three females in other Scarabaeinae genera -together withwhat is known about preimaginal development in this subfamily and the anatomy of Scarabaeoideareproductive apparatus- can be considered evidence of the phylogenetic and ontogenetic process in thissubfamily of reduction from 2 ovaries with 6 ovarioles each, to 1 ovary with 1 ovariole. 1999 artículo científico 0065-1737 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57507609 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=575 Acta Zoológica Mexicana (nueva serie) application/pdf Instituto de Ecología, A.C.
