Based on the theory which holds that verbal thought is the organizing function of all intellectual activity, 30 paranoid schizophrenic patients were studies and compared to 30 healthy subjects paired by age, sex and academic education. Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) was used but initial results showed no major differences, except in the IQs. However, thought multiple regression models, factorial analysis and structural analysis, significative qualitative differences were found in the structure relating the functions within the groups.
