  • Características psicométricas de la Escala de Ideación Suicida de Beck (ISB) en estudiantes universitarios de la ciudad de México Socorro González Macip Silvia Ortiz León José de Jesús González Núñez Alejandro Díaz Martínez Catalina González Medicina Beck students detection prevention suicidal ideation This article shows the psychometric characteristics of the diagnosticconcordance and the internal consistency, according toBeck’s Suicide Ideation Scale (BSI), and the identification ofthe frecuency of the suicide ideation in young adults. It alsodescribes the clinical characteristics of those who present thissuicide ideation, according to the BSI criteria from a sampleof 122 college students who demanded attention from the PsychiatricService of the Department of Medical Psychology,Psychiatry and Mental Health of the Medical School at theUniversidad Nacional Autonóma de México. This was a transversal ex-post-facto study using a non probabilisticsample procedure. The sample was integrated with122 students 17 to 25 years old. The results showed suicideideation in 18.9% of the 122 participants, that is in 23 students,22 of which were also correctly identified by the BSIscale. As for the factorial structure, the scale had four dimensionsjust as the original BSI scale has: Sub-scale I: Characteristicsof their attitudes toward life and death (5 items), formedby one factor, with an internal consistency of alpha = .90. SubscaleII: Characteristics of their thoughts and of their desire tocommit suicide (5 items), with two factors and an alpha = .65coefficient in the first one and alpha = .45 in the second; bothwere integrated in a single dimension. Sub-scale III: Characteristicsof the attempt (4 items) with one factor and an internalconsistency of alpha = .61. Sub-scale IV: Update of the suicideattempt (2 items), considered as an indicator, and obtaininga coefficient of alpha = .45. Beck’s Suicide Ideation Scale(BSI) does not pretend to predict a suicidal attempt in thissample, but it evaluates the intensity of the suicidal desiresamong those who applied, indicating the presence of suiciderisk in a short term. Therefore, its early detection is importantin order to prevent it and provide an adequate treatment. 2000 artículo científico 0185-3325 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=58222304 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=582 Salud Mental application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz Salud Mental (México) Num.2 Vol.23
