EEG y registros polisomnográficos de 23 horas Alejandro Valdés Victor Magdaleno Augusto Fernández Adrián Martínez Rodrigo Fernández Medicina EEG naloxone amygdala Penicillin REM sleep It is known that epileptic activity modifies the system ofthe endogenous opioids, increasing its concentration atthe end of the ictal and post-ictal phases. It is also knownthat µ opioid receptors stimulation in the pontine reticularformation inhibits rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.Besides, opioid peptides induce an excitatory effectgenerating a desynchronization on the electroencephalogram(EEG) and, a reduction of slow-wave sleepand REM sleep. Based on clinical and experimentalobservation carried out in animal models, there seems tobe an intimate relationship between epilepsy and sleep, because epileptic activity is facilitated during slow-wavesleep while it is inhibited during the REM sleep. Based onthese data, we analyzed the effect of naloxone on theepileptic activity induced by penicillin sodium g (Pn) inthe amygdala of the temporal lobe, and also EEG andpolysomnographic 23-h recordings in cats. The considered variables were the following: a) latency, amplitude and duration of the interictal spikes in the EEG,and b) the changes in the organization of sleep caused bythe epileptic activity... 2002 artículo científico 0185-3325 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=58232507 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=582 Salud Mental application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz Salud Mental (México) Num.3 Vol.25
