It is, scarcely ten years ago, that it has beenused to stimulate the brainNowadays, magnetic stimulators consist in a system of highvoltage capacitors, which generate brief pulses of high-intensitycurrent in a ring or eight-shaped electromagnetic coil placed onthe scalp. The magnetic field produced in the coil induces electriccurrents in underlying brain tissue and therefore neuronaldepolarization. In contrast with brain electrical stimulation (e. g.,electroconvulsive therapy) TMS can be focal and noninvasive... 2002 artículo científico 0185-3325 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=58242504 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=582 Salud Mental application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz Salud Mental (México) Num.4 Vol.25 |
