  • Efecto kindling producido por un foco penicilínico amigdalino, en preparaciones crónicas de gato. Estudio polisomnográfico (registros de 23 horas) y de mapeo cerebral Adrián Martínez Edith López Germán Vega Augusto Fernández Rodrigo Fernández Medicina sleep kindling amygdala PGO waves Penicillin The effect of repeated “G” sodic penicilin (Pn) microinjections(50-250 UI/1 µ1) in the temporal lobe amygdala (AM) of freemovingcats was investigated. The following variables weremeasured: a) the time of appearance of the epileptiform spikesin the injected amygdala, b) the duration and frecuency of theafterdischarges, c) the time of propagation to the cerebralcortex of both hemispheres and to the contralateral AM, d) thedose-response relationship for generalized convulsiveseizures, e) the topographic distribution of the spike projectionto the cerebral cortex, measured by brain topographic mappingtechnics, f) the progressive behavioral changes evolutionanalyzed in videotape. Results show that the microinjection of Pn in the AM is arealiable model of interictal spikes, paroxysms and generalizedconvulsive seizures, having similar characteristics as those ofelectrical kindling. The Pn repeated microinjection does notproduce important changes in the layout and organization ofsleep; the only important change was an increase in rapid eyemovements sleep (REM) latency. A significant finding in thisexperiment was that the appearance of PGO spikes in bothlateral geniculate bodies always coincide with a depression ofthe frecuency and amplitude of the interictal amygdaline spikes. 2000 artículo científico 0185-3325 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=58252304 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=582 Salud Mental application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz Salud Mental (México) Num.5 Vol.23
