contents Estudio de un grupo de mujeres sujetas a tratamientos de reproducción asistida: Un enfoque cualitativo Lilia Arranz Lara Bertha Blum Grymberg Emily Ito Sugiyama Medicina depression grounded theory desire of maternity narcisistic personality Assisted human reproduction treatments The main purpose of this research was to define the way in whichpsychic representations of the desire of maternity determinedthe decision of a group of women to be put under complicatedreproductive treatments such as in vitro fertilization. Patientspreviously diagnosed with primary sterility, who wanted to tryassisted human reproduction (AHR) treatments, specifically thosecandidates for in vitro fertilization techniques (IVF), were remittedto a public health institution. Interviews were made to a hundredcandidates, ten of which were selected to be amply studied. Themethodology employed was interpretative in a grounded theorydesign. This instrument helped to build categories that deepenedand broaded the phenomenon under study. Two constant factorsthat affected the decision of the studied group were found:narcisistic personality and the imaginary child. This analysisincluded the study of other factors such as gender, familypressures, medical institution, and side effects of this treatment.Through rigorous analysis the information was codified by specificmethods (axial coding, selective coding) that allowed the designof a preliminar model that explained the founded categories, theirrelationship and the temporary procces involved. These resultscould help in further investigations as a tool for ginecologistsand professionals of mental health to increase their comprehensionof this population. In order to find applications of theprevious results, it was suggested to work with a psychoterapydesigned for women who underwent such treatements. 2001 artículo científico 0185-3325 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=58252406 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=582 Salud Mental application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz Salud Mental (México) Num.5 Vol.24
