Patricia Elizabeth Borja Laverde Derecho Ecuador government law reform social security The composition of the IESS Board of Directors is tripartite. In 2016, the Constitutional Court declared the deferred unconstitutionality of the second and third paragraphs of article 28 of the Social Security Law until the National Assembly approves legal reform to ensure the constitutional rights of equality and participation to integrate this body. As of 2018, by decision of the General Controller of the State, the IESS Board of Directors had only two members. In 2020, the Board of Directors had once again a tripartite structure by decision of the Court.
