  • Social security for unpaid domestic workers: Death benefits, a relevant protection in the pandemic Monica Vinueza Flores Derecho 19 work COVID pensions widowhood This article analyzes the protection of unpaid domestic workers through social security in the current context. The Organic Law for Labor Justice and the Recognition of Work at Home incorporated unpaid domestic workers into social security, guaranteeing them economic protection against the contingencies of old age, disability, and death. The analysis of the target population of this law, its spirit as well as the conditions of access to the benefits established for such contingencies, specifically for the contingency of death, show that such protection is adequate to protect people who perform unpaid work at home and mainly their beneficiaries in the current situation, considering that the pandemic caused by the SARS-coV2 coronavirus has impacted families not only in their state of health but also in their economic situation. 2021 artículo científico 2588-0837 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=600266296011 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6002/600266296011/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6002/600266296011/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6002/600266296011/600266296011.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6002/600266296011/movil https://doi.org/10.26807/rfj.v10i10.292 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=6002 Revista Facultad de Jurisprudencia application/pdf Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Revista Facultad de Jurisprudencia (Ecuador) Num.10
