The protein PhaG directs carbon from non-related carbon sources such as glycerol, metabolised through fatty acid de novosynthesis(FAS)pathway, with PHA synthesis. The gene that codifies for this protein has not yet been found in the genome of Ralstonia eutrophaH16, a model organism.By bioinformatic comparison to already known PhaG proteins, a PhaG-like protein was found codified by gene H16_A0147 and presence of the gene was preliminary confirmed by PCR. This is the first study that shows the presence and characteristics of a PhaG-like protein in R. eutrophaH16 and represents the first step for the identification of a connection between FAS and PHA pathwaysin this model bacterium. Further gene deletionand enzymatic activity studies are necessary to confirm this potential relationship, which couldimproveindustrial PHA production and utilisation of agro-industrial residues such as glycerol. 2019 artículo científico 1900-2351 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=607866916005 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6078/607866916005/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6078/607866916005/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6078/607866916005/607866916005.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/6078/607866916005/movil https://doi.org/10.33571/rpolitec.v15n29a5 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=6078 Revista Politécnica application/pdf Politécnico Colombiano Jaime Isaza Cadavid Revista Politécnica (Colombia) Num.29 Vol.15 |
