contents Research perspectives on phymatotrichopsis omnivora and the disease it causes José Alfredo Samaniego Gaxiola Agrociencias Soil soil fungi cotton root rot borne fungal plant pathogens Phymatotrichopsis omnivora continues to be an importantplant pathogen. The diseases caused by this fungus resultin economic losses reaching millions dollars in northernMexico and southern United States of America. However, limited research has been done about this pathogen in recentyears. P. omnivora is a soil-borne fungus with a host rangeof more than 2000 plant species, and can survive in soilfor more than 10 years. Research on this fungus and thediseases it causes would help to reduce the negative impacton crop productivity and to improve the management ofother diseases caused by fungi. In this work, the results ofsome research of P. omnivora are discussed, and future linesof research are proposed. 2007 artículo científico 0568-2517 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=60833310 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=608 Agricultura Técnica en México application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias Agricultura Técnica en México (México) Num.3 Vol.33
