contents Finite-Element Calculation of the SSFR of Synchronous Machines R. Escarela Pérez E. Campero Littlewood J. L. Hernández Ávila C. Avilés Cruz R. Aguilar López Ingeniería Synchronous Machines Finite Element Method Standstill Frequency Response Test This paper uses different/state-of-the-art finite-elementtechniques to effectively obtain the standstill frequencyresponse of synchronous machines. It addresses thecontinuous interest to avoid actual tests in large machinesas they represent high costs and risks of damage. This workuses Lagrange multipliers to create two different finiteelementmeshes that are joined at the air gap region, allowingthe existence of element nodes in other element edges andfacilitates the simulation of the rotor body movement. Thisis not usually possible in conventional finite-element codes, where the convenient use of dissimilar mesh densities forthe stator and rotor components of the machine is notallowed. The finite-element model developed in this workalso takes explicit consideration of the external circuitryconnected to the machine through a simultaneous andeffective solving of the field and circuit equations. Thesimulations follow the procedure of the corresponding IEEEstandard. The numerical results agree well with an older andmuch less efficient finite-element approach, but that has beenfully validated 2006 artículo científico 1665-0654 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=61410206 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=614 Científica application/pdf Instituto Politécnico Nacional Científica (México) Num.2 Vol.10
