  • A methodological approach to study hidden populations. the case of trafficked women in Mexico City Arun Kumar Acharya Sociología tions Mexico hidden popula trafficked women Research methodology For a variety of reasons, there are usually incon-veniences when getting data from key subpopula-tions, particularly from those whose behaviors areillegal or illicit. Non-probability sampling approach-es such as network sampling are the simplest to carryout, but are subject to a high risk of sampling bias, whereas most of the probability sampling methodsconsidered are limited because they are only adequateunder certain circumstances and for some groups. Considering the difficulties to obtain quality dataand information, this paper presents an attempt thathas been made to portray an appropriate method andtechnique to study hidden populations. It explains theapproach followed to study trafficked women in Mex-ico City. Using the time-space sampling and networktechniques, the research identified seventy-three traf-ficked women; sixty were interviewed through a semi-structured questionnaire and thirteen through an in-depth interview. 2007 artículo científico 1405-3543 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=65417101 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=654 Revista Internacional de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, SOCIOTAM application/pdf Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas Revista Internacional de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, SOCIOTAM (México) Num.1 Vol.XVII
