contents Neoplasias quísticas pancreáticas José Manuel Hermosillo-Sandoval Benjamín Jordán-Pérez Francisco Javier-Haro Efraín Gómez-Herrera Rocío Andrade-Madrid Emilio Prieto Díaz-Chávez Medicina pancreas cystadenoma Cystic tumors cystoadenocarcinoma Background: Cystic neoplasms of the pancreas representbetween 5% and 10% of all pancreatic tumors. Due to theirmalignant potential, surgery is indicated. Because of theuncommon nature of this pathology, the aim of this study wasto present a series of six patients who were operated on for acystic tumor and to analyze the morphological characteristics, surgical experience and follow-up.Methods: This was a retrospective study. Clinical files werestudied, as well as surgical and pathological registries frompatients diagnosed with cystic neoplasms of the pancreas. Fivefemales and one male were included with mean ages of 54 ± 15years. The main symptom was abdominal pain. Results: Clinical course and CT scan results were the criteriafor suspecting the diagnosis. In four out of six patients, the tumorwas located within the body and tail of pancreas. The mostfrequent intervention was distal pancreatectomy. There was nomediate operative mortality in a 30-day period. Histopatologicaldiagnoses were three serum cystoadenomas, two mucinouscystoadenomas and one cystoadenocarcinoma. After a 4-yearfollow-up, no recurrences of tumor have been reported in thesurviving patients. Conclusions: The natural history of cystic neoplasms of thepancreas is generally benign, but complications may occur bydirect invasion of neighboring structures. Clinical course, tomography, pancreatography and punction are fundamental forits treatment. 2008 artículo científico 0009-7411 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=66276405 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=662 Cirugía y Cirujanos application/pdf Academia Mexicana de Cirugía, A.C.
