contents The Buller phenomenon in a bipolar basidiomycetous mushroom, Pholiota nameko S. Ohga T. Nogami Y. Kamemoto Y. Kitamoto Biología Pholiota nameko Buller phenomenon auxotrophic strains The nuclear behavior in the Buller phenomenon of a bipolar mushroom, Pholiotanameko, was examined using auxotrophic mutant strains to demonstrate the involvementof nuclear selection rules in dikaryotization by di-mon matings. During compatibledi-mon mating of a parental monokaryon and a parental dikaryon, dikaryotizationof the monokaryotic mycelia occurred. We speculated that only one nucleus of the twonuclei from the parental dikaryon was selected, and the dominant nucleus migratedinto the parental monokaryon to complete dikaryotization. The hierarchy of dominanceof the three nuclei from dikaryotic strains tested during such di-mon mating wasestablished. The hierarchy was the same as that for mycelial and oidial monokaryotization. In hemicompatible di-mon mating, the nucleus of the parental dikaryoncomplementary to the parental monokaryon could be the nuclear donor in dikaryotization. However, when the complementary nucleus was lower on the hierarchy thanthe nucleus of the dikaryon, then 0% to 50% of the samples isolated from the parentalmonokaryon side of the colony had completed dikaryotization. Furthermore, similarnuclear selection rules that apply to compatible di-mon mating may operate in hemicompatibledi-mon mating. The crossing between a parental monokaryon and monokaryoticcells produced by mycelial monokaryotization of a parental dikaryon occursat times during what seems to be di-mon mating in this mushroom. 2002 artículo científico 1534-2581 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=68514201 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=685 Micología Aplicada International application/pdf Colegio de Postgraduados Micología Aplicada International (México) Num.2 Vol.14
