  • THE VEREDA: FROM THE PATH TO THE PLACE A MULTIPLICITY OF RURAL TERRITORIALITIES Bibiana Vargas G. Multidisciplinarias (Ciencias Sociales) Place development territorialities familiarity and cooperation The objective of this article is to reflect upon the vereda (territorial subdivision) in Columbia, through which it is possible to account for the geographical, historical, and socio-political changes and transformations that have occurred in the country’s rural areas. Thus, in the convergence of the local and the global, the traditional and the modern, the outside and the inside, one’s own and the foreign, a multiplicity of territorialities is configured that delimit, control, and give a sense of place. To this end, a documentary review is carried out which shows various approaches to the concept of vereda and establishes the main conceptual elements that frame the study in question. As a territorial category, the vereda is not only a division of the rural space, but also a space of social, cultural, and political relationship. The vereda corresponds not only to physical and geographical characteristics, but also to the possible senses and meanings that, from established socio-spatial links, are given to it by those who live there and who persist in the framework of a globalized society. 2019 artículo científico 2395-9177 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=688378268012 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=6883 Textual application/pdf Universidad Autónoma Chapingo Textual (México) Num.73
