contents Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale as a longterm outcome measurement tool in patients receiving clozapine ODT- A Pilot Study Gollapudi Shankar Carmen Nate Medicina United States Quality of Life Treatment Outcome Antipsychotic Agents Objective: This pilot, twelve-week, open-label studyexamined the effect of clozapine orallydisintegrating tablet or ODT in patients withschizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder utilizingPositive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) asa long-term outcome measurement tool. Methods: The final study sample consisted ofnineteen subjects who were residents a long-termcare psychiatric facility in Pomona, California.Subjects were using clozapine ODT (FazaClo®) atthe most clinically effective dosage depending ontheir symptoms and at the discretion of thepsychiatrist and psychopharm consultant. PANSSwere administered at baseline, week-4, week-8 andweek-12. Paired sample t-tests were used tocalculate the statistical significance of the meandifferences for scores at baseline and week-12.Results: Mean differences from baseline indicatedsignificant improvement on total score, as well aspositive, negative, cognitive and generalpsychopathology subscales after twelve weeks oftreatment. The greater average reduction in thenegative syndrome subscale across the twelveweeks possibly illustrates the ability of clozapineODT in improving negative symptoms, includingcognitive function which is their ability to participatein their personal care and creative expressions indance, arts, games, poetry to a greater extent theiroverall, quality of life and living along with the effecton positive symptoms. Conclusion: Overall, clozapine proved to affect abroad range of psychopathology including cognitivefunctions in this schizophrenic sample. 2007 artículo científico 1885-642X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=69050107 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/690/69050107/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/690/69050107/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/690/69050107/69050107.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/690/69050107/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=690 Pharmacy Practice application/pdf Centro de investigaciones y Publicaciones Farmacéuticas Pharmacy Practice (España) Num.1 Vol.5
