Plaza Medicina Students Pharmacy Education United States Longitudinal Studies Objectives: The purpose of this study was to gatherlongitudinal data on a pharmacy class cohortconcerning programmatic components as well asdevelop a profile of student experiences as theyprogress through the curriculum.Methods: The Class of 2006 (n = 67) completed a 2page instrument at the conclusion of the first 3professional years (PY) concerning hours spent invarious activities, overall quality of variousprogrammatic components, relationships with othersin the college, and employment information. Duringsenior week, a more extensive exit survey wasadministered.Results: At the conclusion of PY1, 56.5% of theclass was working as a pharmacy intern. By PY3this increased to 88.1% with a decrease to 65.7% inthe final year. The hourly range of hours workedfollowed the same pattern. The rating of DeansOffice Staff and interactions with faculty membersremained constant across all 4 years. In the finalexit survey the 2 lowest rated program componentswere the quality of the interaction with assignedfaculty advisor and the availability of professionalelectives. There was no difference across theprofessional years for the quality of relationshipswith staff or faculty; however, the mean rating of thequality of relationships with other students washigher for PY4 when compared to PY1.Conclusions: College faculty, administrators, andcommittees have used the information gatheredfrom students in program assessment andenhancement efforts.
