  • Health information, an area for competition in Swedish pharmacies Nina Viberg Åsa Vernby Johanna Nordmark Cecilia Stålsby Lundborg Elin C. Larsson Medicina Sweden Pharmacies Health Promotion Community Pharmacy Services Objective: To investigate the views andexpectations of a selected group of customersregarding health information in Swedishpharmacies. Methods: A repeated cross sectional, questionnairestudy carried out in 2004 and 2005. Customersbuying calcium products answered questions onosteoporosis and general questions on healthpromotion and information. Results: Respondents had a positive attitudetowards receiving health information from thepharmacies and towards the pharmacies’ future rolein health promotion. However, only 30% of therespondents expected to get information on generalhealth issues from the pharmacy. In spite of this,76% (2004) and 72% (2005) of the respondentsbelieved that the pharmacies could influencepeople’s willingness to improve their health. Conclusion: There is a gap between therespondents’ positive attitudes towards the Swedishpharmacies and their low expectations as regardsthe pharmacies’ ability to provide health information. In the light of the upcoming change to the statemonopoly on medicine sales, this gap could be animportant area for competition between the actors inthe new situation for medicine sales in Sweden 2008 artículo científico 1885-642X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=69060203 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=690 Pharmacy Practice application/pdf Centro de investigaciones y Publicaciones Farmacéuticas Pharmacy Practice (España) Num.2 Vol.6
