| contents | Design of a cervical traction device. B. Salas E. Robayo L. Martino Ingeniería physiotherapy cervical therapy cervical traction There cervical pathologies that do not warrant surgical intervention, these can be treated in rehabilitation centers using devices designed to strengthen the muscles of the cervical region, they have the disadvantage of being large and composed of many elements which are not attractive to patients, causing fear of these. Not all facilities possess one, therefore therapy is performed manually. Given the above, a device portable cervical traction for use in rehabilitation centers, which can be applied comfortably, was designed. The solution was proposed based on the characteristics expected for these devices, the study of efforts was performed under the critical operating condition using a finite element software, the result was that the maximum stress occurs when the screws are fully extended and the compressed springs in either case it not exceeds the yield strength of the material, so that the design is considered adequate to the load conditions and materials set. The device has a manufacturing cost 36,65 % less to their national similar, and was evaluated by physiotherapists successfully. 2015 artículo científico 1316-6832 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=70735858005 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=707 Revista INGENIERÍA UC application/pdf Universidad de Carabobo Revista INGENIERÍA UC (República Bolivariana de Venezuela) Num.1 Vol.22 |
