contents Surfactante Pulmonar. Estado del arte y aspectos fundamentales Katiuska Franceschi J. C. Pereira Ingeniería alveoli Surfactant surface tension pulmonary surfactant The respiratory system is mainly composed of the trachea, bronchus and its branches that reach the alveoli. They are the alveolar cells type II pneumocytes, which are responsible for the synthesis and secretion of pulmonary surfactant, which helps to lower the surface tension preventing collapse in the socket. Pulmonary surfactant is a mixture mainly of lipids and proteins. In this article is done an investigation that allows to know of the pulmonary surfactant characteristics, functionality, composition and information regarding its surface tension. Additionally is explained respiratory distress syndrome and obtaining of surfactants natural and synthetic by applying chemical technology that contributes to the reduction in mortality of newborns. Thus the contribution of the application of basic science as chemistry, for improvements in human health is appreciated. 2016 artículo científico 1316-6832 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=70748810012 es http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=707 Revista INGENIERÍA UC application/pdf Universidad de Carabobo Revista INGENIERÍA UC (República Bolivariana de Venezuela) Num.3 Vol.23
