Nuevas propuestas desde la arqueología a la luz de la democracia participativa y protagónica Iraida Vargas Arenas Antropología social identity Historical heritage political and cultural education The aim of this work is an attempt to understand the lack of efficiency in the political stances relative to the maintenance of a cultural history in Venezuela. The lack of focus in the sort of disciplines which bring a sense of history to the culture, as well as the failure of communities to participate in the definition and establishment of historical values,are considered to be the main reasons for this inefficiency in establishing an adequate political consciousness. It is an established fact that the presentation of an historical pointof view in the preservation of a cultural heritage should be emphasized as part of educational programs. Such education should be tenaciously effected so that an historical consciousness is realized to be part of the process of forming a social identity.
