Pastrana Química foods ethic philosophy Biotechnology genetically modified organisms In the last years the biotechnologies, especially those to obtain modified genetically organisms (GMOs), they arechanging the relationship established between societies and the system of food production. These changes are deeper thanthose caused by the technologies applied up to now to the improvement of the production and the quality of the foods. Inthis work the effects and implications of the GMOs on the scientific, social and economic conditions, as well as on theethical, religious and moral principles of the peoples are analysed. Firstly, the role of GMOs in developed and undevelopedcountries is described and also their implication in the commercial relationships. The possibilities of the OMG to improvethe humanity´s general welfare are discussed in basis of the principle of justice, the government regulations the choiceright, the security of consumers, the biodiversity and the intellectual property of the corporations.
