The treated hydrolysates were fermented in shaker flasks by the yeast Candida guilliermondii FTI 20037. The statistical analysis showed that TH1 and TH2 were the best treatments. Concerning to the fermentation process, it was observed that there was a significant difference (P = 0.05) among the treatments and it was detected the highest xylitol productivity and yield with TH1 (0.66 g/Lh, 0.73 g/g) and the lowest with TH3 (0.48 g/Lh; 0.59 g/g).
