  • La psicología de la liberación: aprendiendo de América Latina Mark Burton Política oppression transformation Liberation Social Psychology Liberation Social Psychology (LSP, psicología social de la liberación)has developed amongst a body of psychologists in Latin America overthe last decade. This article explores the context in which LSP grewfrom the work of Ignacio Martín-Baró and was developed by MaritzaMontero, amongst others. Within LSP, key concepts emerge, including“conscientization”, “realismo-crítico”, “de-ideologisation”, a socialorientation, “the preferential option for the oppressed majorities” andmethodological eclecticism. The application of LSP is explored with reference to three domains. First, it is suggested that community socialpsychology as practised in some parts of Latin America reflects LSP inits emphasis on social transformation and participatory methods.Second, psychosocial work with victims of state oppression, whichadopts a highly social and societal orientation, embodies LSP. Third, socialanalyses that explicitly adopt socio-psychological-political analysesof the social realities confronting countries in Latin America embrace,in different ways, principles and concepts of LSP. Finally, some of thechallenges facing LSP are discussed. 2004 artículo científico 1870-2333 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=72610406 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=726 Polis: Investigación y Análisis Sociopolítico y Psicosocial application/pdf Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Polis: Investigación y Análisis Sociopolítico y Psicosocial (México) Num.4 Vol.1
