- Propuesta de un sistema de gestión integral de residuos sólidos domésticos en la comunidad Cofán A I Dureno de la Amazonía ecuatoriana Pedro Andrés Peñafiel Arcos Karem Yael Cazares Carrión Alexandra Maribel Quilligana Vega Astrid Carolina Pasquel Montenegro Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) Amazon indigenous community daily per capita production characterization of domestic solid waste The present work aimed at establishing a proposal for a comprehensive management system for domestic solid waste (DSW) in the A I Dureno community, where the indigenous people of the Cofán nationality can be found. It is located in “Sucumbíos”, a province in the Ecuadorian Amazon region. In this location, there is a group of houses built within the Millennium Communities Program promoted by the national government, of which only 26 are inhabited with a total of 129 people. Currently, more than half of the households burn DSW as the only treatment process which generates environmental impacts in the area. The methodology applied consisted of diagnosing the socioenvironmental conditions of the community through surveys, as well as determining the daily per capita production (PCP) of DSW through a characterization applying the methodology of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). It also focused on the development of a proposal for a management model appropriate to the present demographic characteristics, from environmental education to final disposal. The results obtained determined that the average PCP of the community is 0,346 kg/ inhabitant/day and the predominant category was the organic fraction with 64,7% of a total of 44,63 kg of DSW produced. The adaptation of an area for the generation of compost and a recycling system that allows obtaining economic resources for the benefit of the population is proposed. 2020 artículo científico 1390-5384 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=726180887003 es http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=7261 Avances en Ciencias e Ingenierías application/pdf Universidad San Francisco de Quito Avances en Ciencias e Ingenierías (Ecuador) Num.2 Vol.12
