- La intermediación como protección: implicaciones para la configuración de mercados en contextos de inseguridad Tiana Bakic Hayden Antropología Mexico Violence security brokerage extortion Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in la Central de Abasto, Mexico City’s main wholesale food market, this article analyzes the effects of violence on the configuration of the Mexican food system. It argues that in contexts of violence, relations of intermediation expand and transform. That is, the number and type of actors involved in distribution increases and new types of intermediaries arise in the system who help mitigate the sense of insecurity felt by market actors. This study contributes to current anthropological discussions about (inter)mediation, and reveals the importance of studying violence in the context of markets and economic relations. 2022 artículo científico 0188-7017 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=74772617003 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/747/74772617003/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/747/74772617003/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/747/74772617003/74772617003.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/747/74772617003/movil 10.24275/uam/izt/dcsh/alteridades/2022v32n63/Hayden es http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=747 Alteridades application/pdf Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Alteridades (México) Num.63 Vol.32
