| contents | The hasukjip: its history and current situation Alexander Kim Estudios Territoriales Korea History Economy hasukjip Housing studies The hasukjip (하숙집) is a form of small business in Korea. It consists of a house with several (sometimes up to a dozen or more) boarding rooms. Many Korean and foreign students live in hasukjips. Koreans understand hasukjips only as a type of private dormitory, but if we examine how hasukjips have changed and evolved we can then understand social and housing trends in Korean society. Although hasukjips reflect elements and aspects of various sides of life in Korea, Korean and foreign scholars have never undertaken research on the history of the hasukjip nor the changes in its history. Besides this institution remains practically unknown in the Western academic world. The aim of this article is to consider elements of the history of the hasukjip and its place in Korean life. 2016 artículo científico 0124-7913 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=74846572004 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/748/74846572004/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/748/74846572004/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/748/74846572004/74846572004.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/748/74846572004/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=748 Revista Bitácora Urbano Territorial application/pdf Universidad Nacional de Colombia Revista Bitácora Urbano Territorial (Colombia) Num.1 Vol.26 |
