The isometric force of hand-grip is indispensable to performance, because it is linked the capacity to accomplish the grab. It has been described that hydration with carbohydrates presents more benefits to performance in relation to hydration with water, in aerobic exercise. However, the studies were not conclusive if the hydration type interferes in parameters of force and potency. This study has evaluated if the hydration type adopted interferes in the force of handgrip, isometric of lumbar and in the potency of arms and legs in judokas after a training of 120 minutes. Fifteen judokas were evaluated (age 22,07 ± 2,05 years, 78,35 ± 8,89 Kg of body weight) in 2 trainings, divided by a 7 days interval. The study was characterized as double-blind cross-over, in which the athletes consumed carbohydrate drink (6% of CHO) or placebo. The statistical treatment has been divided into three stages: firstly, ANOVA that guided the other analysis, then test t and Wilcoxon. In agreement with the results, the hydration with carbohydrates, maintained the same level of force of handgrip, however the force was significantly reduced (p < 0,05) when the athletes consumed placebo. The others parameters analyzed did not pointed out any statistic difference (p < 0,05), independent of the type of hydration adopted. In conclusion, the consumption of a carbohydrate drink, if compared with placebo, has not shown decisive influence on the explosive force of inferior and superior members, as well as on the lumbar isometric force; however, it has shown influence in the isometric force of hand-grip. 2005 artículo científico 1519-9088 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=75117015002 pt http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=751 Fitness & Performance Journal application/pdf Instituto Crescer com Meta Fitness & Performance Journal (Brasil) Num.5 Vol.4
