contents Game-related statistics in basketball by player position and final game score differences in European Basketball Championship 2007 Yolanda Escalante José M. Saavedra Antonio García-Hermoso Salud performance motor skills Discriminant analysis Introduction: The purposes of this study were (i) to determine the differences in game-related statistics by player position according to categories of the final game score difference, and (ii) to examine which game-related statistics can serve to discriminate between winner and loser players according to player position and final game score difference in a European Basketball Championship (EBS). Material and methods: The sample consists of the results and statistics of 54 games played in the final phase of the EBS. The games were classified according to final game score difference and the players according to position. One-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey tests were used to determine the differences in game-related statistics between player positions. Then, the sample was then divided according to game category and player position. A discriminant analysis model was constructed for each subsample (stepwise selection). Results and discussion: The principal conclusions was the discriminatory power of game-related statistics is greater for the centres than for the forwards, and greater for the latter than for the guards, with the variables selected being both offensive and defensive. 2010 artículo científico 1519-9088 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=75121689007 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=751 Fitness & Performance Journal application/pdf Instituto Crescer com Meta Fitness & Performance Journal (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.9
