In this paper we present the main results of the research, which is based on a descriptive field methodology. The sample was conformed by 46 teachers of I stage of Basic Education of 13 Girardot district schools of Aragua state. A questionnaire was applied, and a percentage technique was used to interpret the results. The most important conclusions were organized in four aspects: professional profile; teacher’s knowledge; the teacher as user of written language; and teaching strategies.
