contents UN ENFOQUE TEXTUAL/DISCURSIVO PARA LA ENSEÑANZA DE TÉCNICAS DE TRADUCCIÓN Judith Teresa Batista Ojeda Beatriz M. Arrieta de Meza Educación translation lexicalsemantic elements scientifictechnical discourse This article has as a main objective to analyze and describe the preliminary steps which lead to determine the process of teaching translation techniques. It starts with the textualdiscursive approach, which consists on the establishing of the most relevant aspects of the discourse being translated. Afterwards the scientifictechnical discourse used by the sample selected is analyzed, in terms of the semantic and pragmatic components of which it is constituted. The theoretical methodological foundation of this research is based on the contributions produced by experts in translation teaching, among them it is worth to mention those who conform the encyclopedias of Baker (2001) and Venuti (2002). The results attained from this descriptive analysis reveal the existence of lexicalsemantic elements of the scientifictechnical discourse which are difficult to translate and even hard to understand by native speakers. Consequently, the imperative need of teaching translation techniques to students who learn English as a foreign language, involved in the scientific and technological field is ratified. It is done in order to help them find the actual meaning and sense of the original message being transmitted, and at the same time, to allow them to be up to date in the earlier discoveries and events produced in their study field in particular, which generally are published in English 2005 artículo científico 1315-883X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=76111208 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=761 Laurus application/pdf Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador Laurus (República Bolivariana de Venezuela) Num.20 Vol.11
