contents Crisis of the social and emergence of sociality in the new scenarios of identity. The San Francisco district of Bilbao Gabriel Gatti Andrés G. Seguel Beatriz Cavia Iñaki Martínez de Albéñiz Sociología Sociality urban space social change gentrification institutional crisis The San Francisco district in Bilbao (Spain) isundergoing a deep process of urban transformation inwhich there is a convergence of different dynamics —economic (property speculation), social (appearance ofassociations and social movements) and political(rehabilitation plans). In order to explain thistransformation, we test two hypotheses in the article:gentrification and the crisis of the social institutions(politics, religion and work) that traditionallyarticulated society. To counterbalance theshortcomings of the two hypotheses we redefine themas mere “conditions of possibility” of the emergence ofnew forms of sociality, the depoliticisation of signifiedsand the production of new spaces. San Franciscoconstitutes a variable cronotope that provokes ablurring in sociological configurations and in socialnorms and sanctions. 2008 artículo científico 1695-6494 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=76501003 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=765 Papeles del CEIC.
