contents A few philosophical ruminations on the human condition and choosing to live well Blake E. Hestir Psicología Plato Aristotle happiness authenticity existentialism The notion that life is meaningful through choosingto live well has historically received substantiveattention in various philosophical circles, notablythe ancient Greek philosophers Socrates, Plato, andAristotle, and more recently several of the existentialists. In some respects, the idea of choosing tolive well is a “thematization” of two widely-recognized,independent components of a meaningful life:happiness and authenticity. I develop this notionof choosing to live well by exploring, developing, and relating these conceptions of happiness andauthenticity. By appealing to a very basic accountof human nature that has found favor among a greatnumber of people, I show how happiness and authenticitycomplement each other as conditions forthe possibility of living meaningfully. 2008 artículo científico 1794-4724 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=79926103 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=799 Avances en Psicología Latinoamericana application/pdf Universidad del Rosario Avances en Psicología Latinoamericana (Colombia) Num.1 Vol.26
