contents 3D photoionization structure and distances of Planetary Nebulae III. NGC 6781 Hugo E. Schwarz Hektor Monteiro Ingeniería Planetary Nebula Interstellar medium Photoionization modeling Continuing our series of papers on the three-dimensional (3D)structures and accurate distances to Planetary Nebulae (PNe),we present our study of the planetary nebula NGC6781. Forthis object we construct a 3D photoionization model and, using the constraints provided by observational data fromthe literature we determine the detailed 3D structure of thenebula, the physical parameters of the ionizing source and thefirst precise distance. The procedure consists in simultaneouslyfitting all the observed emission line morphologies, integratedintensities and the two-dimensional (2D) density map from the[SII] (sulfur II) line ratios to the parameters generated by themodel, and in an iterative way obtain the best fit for the centralstar parameters and the distance to NGC6781, obtainingvalues of 950±143 pc (parsec – astronomic distance unit) and385 LΘ (solar luminosity) for the distance and luminosity of thecentral star respectively. Using theoretical evolutionary tracksof intermediate and low mass stars, we derive the mass of thecentral star of NGC6781 and its progenitor to be 0.60±0.03MΘ(solar mass) and 1.5±0.5MΘ respectively. 2006 artículo científico 1678-5428 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=81040207 pt http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=810 Exacta application/pdf Universidade Nove de Julho Exacta (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.4
