contents White-Dwarfs in the thin-disk: physical properties and luminosity functions Hektor Monteiro Wei-Chun Jao Antonio Kanaan Ingeniería Statistics White dwarfs Binaries ages Stellar populations In this article, we present an investigation of a sample of 1072stars extracted from the Villanova Catalog of SpectroscopicallyIdentified White Dwarfs (2005 on-line version), studying theirdistribution in the Galaxy, their physical properties and theirluminosity functions. The distances and physical properties ofthe white dwarfs are determined through interpolation of their(B-V) or (b-y) colors in model grids. The solar position relativeto the Galactic plane, luminosity function, as well as separatefunctions for each white dwarf spectral type are derived anddiscussed. We show that the binary fraction does not varysignificantly as a function of distance from the Galactic diskout to 100 pc. We propose that the formation rates of DA andnon-DAs have changed over time and/or that DAs evolve intonon-DA types. The luminosity functions for DAs and DBs havepeaks possibly related to a star burst event. 2007 artículo científico 1678-5428 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=81050220 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=810 Exacta application/pdf Universidade Nove de Julho Exacta (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.5
