  • El consumo de azogue: ¿Indicador de la corrupción del sistema colonial en el virreinato del Perú? (Siglos XVI-XVII) Héctor Omar Noejovich Historia PERU AZOGUE POTOSÍ MERCURY CORRUPTION This paper deals with the concept of corruption, trying to assess its magnitude by analyzing therelationship between mercury and silver used in the process of extraction. Using quantitative data, chemical, empirical and institutional differences are established for the mercury to silver ratio. Throughstatistical analyses, a “margin of fraud” is also established. Throughout the 17th century, this margindepended on negotiations between miners and public officials and contributed to the illegal trade throughBuenos Aires. The conclusions estimate the tendencies of registered silver (or legal silver) in the Potosíroyal treasury, comparing it against the projected tendency of total production based on mercuryconsumption (that produced in Huancavélica added to imports minus exports) 2002 artículo científico 2027-4688 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=83307002 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=833 Fronteras de la Historia application/pdf Instituto Colombiano de Antropología e Historia Fronteras de la Historia (Colombia) Num.7
