  • Current knowledge of the cichlid fishes of the Amacuzac River, Mexico Marco Polo Franco Archundia Elsah Arce Uribe Jorge Luna-Figueroa Agrociencias non review Cichlids native fish Balsas’s basin Introduction of non-native species into an environment can produce changes in the ecosystem and in the dynamic of the organisms that inhabit it. In the Amacuzac River, Mexico, there are currently established, five cichlids species, four of them are non-native: Mozambique tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus), convict fish (Amatitlania nigrofasciata), spotcheek cichlid (Thorichthys maculipinnis), and the green terror (Andinoacara rivulatus). The Mexican mojarra (Cichlasoma istlanum) is a native cichlid from the Balsas River basin that belongs to the subbasin of the Amacuzac River, and is used as a fishing resource. In this work, a review of the knowledge about this five cichlid species of the Amacuzac River was done. The non-native species are the most studied fish and the native species has the penultimate place in the number of research. The biggest number of studies about non-native species demands a bigger research about the native species that allows the conservation and management of this resource. 2018 artículo científico 0188-7890 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=83757609006 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/837/83757609006/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/837/83757609006/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/837/83757609006/83757609006.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/837/83757609006/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=837 Avances en Investigación Agropecuaria application/pdf Universidad de Colima Avances en Investigación Agropecuaria (México) Num.2 Vol.22
