| contents | Galicia, región de Europa: dimensiones europeístas del imaginario culturalista de la Xunta Lourdes Méndez Antropología Europe of Culture Culturalistic Imaginary Region Emotional dimensions In this paper I analyse the cultural imaginary broadcast since 1990 by Manuel Fraga,President of the Xunta of Galicia, I focus in the first place on its europeistic dimensions.As this imaginary is founded on culture as the unique reference shared by the wholecollective, I also examine how the imaginary succeeds in arousing emotional responsesat the same time that it darkens the present conflicts and contradictions of Galiciansociety. Throughout the text I make clear the key elements that have made possible theincreasing appeal to politics in order to establish a primordial vision of culture, both inthe Galician and the European Union institutions.
